A Jennings County native , Dr. James C. Galyen was raised on a 400-acre farm
in Scipio, Indiana. After graduating from Jennings County High
School in 1986, he went on to Indiana University and graduated with a
Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in chemistry, physics,
anatomy, and biology. Dr. Galyen continued his education at Palmer
College of Chiropractic, the number one chiropractic school in the United
States, and received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1994.
Dr. Galyen returned to southern Indiana to begin his chiropractic
career, initially working as an associate for another chiropractor.
In 1997, Dr. Galyen purchased the clinic where he worked in Scottsburg,
Indiana and began Health Centered Chiropractic. His philosophy of
treating the whole body through chiropractic care, along with physical
therapy, massage therapy, rehabilitation, and nutritional counseling was
the central core of this new office. Dr. Galyen has since opened up
complementary clinics in Versailles, Greensburg, and Salem, Indiana and has taken
great pride in selecting the doctors and staff who attend those clinics.
Dr. Galyen has done extensive study in the area of complete body
wellness. He has taken additional courses in nutrition, physical
therapy, rehabilitation, sports medicine, extremity adjustments,
biomechanical kinesiology, and factory ergonomics. He is certified by the Spinal Research Institute of San Diego and is a member of the American Academy of Pain Management. Dr. Galyen is
also certified in impairment ratings.
Dr. Galyen resides in Seymour, Indiana with his wife of ten years,
Jeanne, and their three sons, Connor, 7 years old; Cole, 4 years old; and
Charlie, 2 years old. He is an alternate member of the Indiana State
Board of Chiropractic. He is also a board member of the Scott County
YMCA and a proud member of the Scott County Chamber of Commerce and
Kiwanis Club.
